Skills SOLGM awards winner Steven May
Skills would like to congratulate Steven May, Chief Executive at Wairora District Council on winning the Skills Melbourne Business School Scholarship: Leading for Strategic Success, at the recent SOLGM Gala Dinner awards.
The judging panel praised Steven’s “well-thought-out application” saying that he showed “a strong desire for further learning, sharing these learnings, and encouraging others in their development. “
Steven has very substantial local government experience having progressed his career at Waikato District Council, Grey District Council and Christchurch District Council before stepping up to his current Chief Executive Role at Wairoa District Council.
He was delighted to receive the recognition: “Thank you very much again for this fantastic opportunity, I felt very proud to have been selected for this award and to represent SKILLS and SOLGM in Melbourne.”
At the dinner, held by the NZ Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM), seven exceptional and innovative project winners were announced, including a supreme award winner. Also announced were recipients of a leadership award, several overseas exchanges and leadership scholarships, and a management challenge.
