COVID-19 UPDATE: What Employers Need To Know

At Skills, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and its impact on all our Skills family – our apprentices, our employers and our staff.
We understand that many of you, our employer partners, have questions about the impact of COVID-19 on Provider block courses and your apprentices.

Firstly, we want you to be reassured that our key priority is to keep everyone safe – particularly as the spread of the virus and its effect continue to evolve. We have robust plans in place to make sure that we are following all the latest Government guidelines and we will be regularly keeping in touch to let you know if any changes or cancellations need to be made.

So, here’s what we know so far:

Are block courses still running?

Yes. We are working closely with our Providers to monitor any changes to block courses as soon as they arise and we will let you know as soon as they do.

Please be assured, we are following all Government and Ministry of Health guidelines around best practice at this time and we are continuing to run our courses while it is still safe to do so, with sensible processes in place.

Should my apprentice attend their block courses?

If they are well, yes, please encourage them to attend their block course so that their apprenticeship remains on track.

If they are feeling unwell, or showing potential symptoms of coronavirus such as coughing, having a temperature and shortness of breath, please advise them to remain at home and not to come into class. If they have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please advise them not to come into class.

In the event that you, your apprentice or someone you have been in contact with has coronavirus, just get in touch with your Account Manager to let us know your situation.

We will keep you updated

Please be assured that we will keep you constantly updated. Again, this is an evolving situation and it is important to us that you know what is happening and are immediately contacted with any changes that may affect you.

If we have any further updates in the coming weeks and months, your Account Manager will be in touch to let you know.
