Over 12,000 NZ Police staff work within the community to keep New Zealanders safe. Skills supports Police internal development programmes that reward the great work of Police teams, and provide formal credentials.

These programmes equip staff with a range of transferrable skills in the form of nationally recognised qualifications that cover leadership, emergency response, intelligence, and more.

The programmes covered

The areas covered at NZ Police include the following:

Intelligence

These programmes have been designed to teach the core principles of working with intelligence, including the ethics and best practice surrounding it. They also cover more advanced analysis qualifications for those that operate in this capacity in complex situations.

Business

New Zealand Business qualifications teach individuals to lead and manage resources and operations. This high-level qualification recognises the skills needed to build teams, manage direct reports, implement change, manage compliance, and analyse financial information. It is currently offered to Police Sergeants.

Adult Education

These qualifications are designed to give your staff the tools they need to teach people about their field of expert knowledge in a memorable and actionable way.
