IMPORTANT: The New Asbestos Regulations and How they Affect You
There have been a few changes to the regulations surrounding the asbestos removal industry that may have an effect on you or your business. The recently issued Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016, have prompted the introduction of standards covering the knowledge and skills (or training standards) required for asbestos removalists, supervisors, and assessors.
Training is an important part of the new licensing system. In order to hold one of the new licences, workers in Class A and B, Supervisors and Assessors will need to receive relevant training/unit standards. You have until 04 April 2018 to do so.
The changes will affect training organisations who may receive enquiries about the new unit standards. If training organisations choose to offer these new courses, there are a few key things to be aware of, which have been outlined in the PDF that you can access through the link below.
Please note that the changes will have the largest impact on companies and tradespeople in the asbestos removal industry or planning to enter the industry.
